About Your Teacher
Welcome! My name is Miss Dixon. I am thrilled to have you in my class this year!
Born under the sunny skies of California, I currently reside in Orange County, where I have lived my entire life. I was also born with a passion- a passion for art and teaching. For as long as I can remember, I have pursued a dream of the artist. After years of hard work and dedication, I graduated from California State University of Fullerton with a Bachelor's in Art Education. Currently, I am working towards obtaining my teaching credentials through the Single Subject Credential Program at CSUF. Everyday, art makes its way into everything that I pursue, as I am constantly aiming to improve my skills. It is my hope that you will share my passion and dedication for art as we progress through the year!

About This Class
I teach Art Fundamentals and Drawing & Painting. In my courses you will study the Elements of Art & Principles of Design, and learn how to utilize them in your artwork. I teach varying levels of art, so no worries if this is your first art class! The important thing to remember is this: art is not simply a skill you are either born with or not. Anyone can create art! In my courses, we will analyze artwork (student & professional), develop a visual arts vocabulary, explore the historical & cultural contexts of art, and finally learn how to apply art to various other contexts. Art Fundamentals will teach you the fundamental (beginning) skills or "building blocks" that may be applied to any other art form (and other creative endeavors as well!) In this class, through various mediums (art forms), you will learn the Elements of Art & Principles of Design. My Drawing & Painting courses further this knowledge by introducing new mediums, exploring more advanced art techniques, and honing drawing & painting skills.
